Could we please have a section dedicated to HT construction and tips. It would make life a lot easier because one would not have to chase all over the forum to find information on HT . Would you please consider it . Thanks , Alan.

Gooday Aaron. There are speakers and there are specialised HT speakers such as bi- polar , I meant having the whole lot under Home Theatre To stop a lot of confusion especially to a HT learner . Because as you know there are amps and there are HT amps that are differant . The acoustics are treated differant in a HT etc . Projectors and speakers subs and wireing not forgetting screens and projectors ,seats , lighting ,so on so on. I went through the knowledge frustration when designing , building and testing my first HT as most forums did not keep HT bundled togeather . I hope you see what I am saying . Kind regards, Alan.

I kind of understand what you are saying. But what exactly, section wise do you feel we are missing?

I am all for new content and sections, but I fear that it will be a sparsely populated area.

Sparkamp, are you saying you have build logs, information, and associated info that you are interested in posting up here or are you just wanting a to see a section that could house such info? Then again, it could be something that if we build it, they will come.

Just my rambling .02$

Isn't that the point of the multichannel audio section, or am I confused?

I agree with Sparkamp, a Home Theater section is one Im interested in as well. My idea would be to include design ideas, construction tips, DIY options for sound/resonance control, speaker/sub placement, etc. It could also be a combination of the build log, equipment choices, and a general show off your project thread. I have a future HT and game room conversion planned for my seldom used living room and want to DIY it. And like many, I dont have abundant funds to call in a custom installer, unless one of these lottery tickets pay off.

When I think DIY HT I think less audio and more the actual transformation from room to full on HT.

Things like custom screen installs or builds(SOME DAY IT WILL BE MINE). Cut to fit AT fabric hiding the speakers, false floors. Acoustic treatment to the room etc etc.

I'm not sure if that's what these guys are talking about, but I will put my HT build up here.

Alan, can you explain how this doesn't fit in the multi-channel audio section?

Gooday Sean, Put it this way Multi channel audio should be in the H Tsection.

, the same as projectors etc\ Alan

I'd disagree. This is Home Audio Forum, not Home Theater Forum. In this case, HT should be under multi-channel audio.

I do realize 6 of one, half dozen of another, but the majority of the questions I expect to see will be audio related and therefore I'd make that the header. Not opposed to changing things, but I don't follow the reasoning.

Maybe a specified Home Theatre section that deals with putting it all together?

we should embrace all aspects of home electronics here in some form. crazy to leave it out.

I am sorry you do not wish to have Home theatre on your systym Sean . As you say "this is for home audio not home theatre " I tend to think this is being a little narrow minded Sean, Home theatre is mostly about Audio .I am on to building my second Home Theatre , due to my "hands on"knowledge and experiance I could have been a lot of help to any body wishing to start a HT that includes planing to a budget , wireing , amps, seats ,screens, acoustics. projectors. lighting , decorating , speakers including subs . I designed and constructed a very cheap extreemly good proformance sub just for HT. I guess i should go somewhere else where HT is Welcome . Thanks for all your trouble No bad feelings intended. Alan

I don't quite follow your logic.

Multi-chn audio = HT audio, by default it is a HT Audio section. Audio first in this case, that is the only difference. There is already a section for projectors, so perhaps you could start by pointing out what is missing.

Was that a triple post? Anyway, I am always willing to adjust the board to the members needs, just want to make sure I understand it correctly and how to execute it.

Okay, what is the final verdict? Should we add a specific home theater section deemed as Home Theater General or Home Theater Construction?

I'd like to hear why it is better to have a HT section than to have the Multi-chn Audio and Video & Display separate. So far the only reason that I find in the thread is that this then requires looking all over the place, but considering that these are very specific locations I feel the opposite. It should be easier for people to find what they are looking for as the sections are separate. When I want to build a projector/screen setup I won't care about reading about speakers when searching threads, and vice versa as the topic at hand would be my interest.
