Bose Speakers

10 posts in this topic

Hey, I got some older Bose 151 Speakers, (Not the Bose 151 SE!) i use with my current setup, wondering anybody's opinion on them..... it seems at times my current system is way too weak for the speakers and at other times, the speakers become way too distorted that i have to lower the volume. These speakers are rated for 10-100 watts per channel as claimed on the rear of the speakers and they say that they work best at 50 watts per channel, which my system gives 50 watts per channel.... now i was thinking of replacing the speakers with the Beats brand Beatbox, or replace my recever... suggestions on eather route would be nice

Gooday and Welcome :bigok:

The biggest downfall usually in a system is the speakers , and the acoustics of the room ..

Buy some decent efficient speakers , Keep the amp .

'Todd'      has a very good knowledge of what spkrs are available in USA and what it could cost you.

Defiantly dont get any beat-box spkrs as i have s strong feeling they will disappoint............Alan

My opinion on Bose isn't a good one.  They have a good marketing department and make good noise canceling headphones.  That's about it in my opinion.  The Beats brand is even worse.  They are great at advertising, but don't make anything I'd ever consider purchasing with my own money.  For the money of the Beatbox, you could get a Sono wireless speaker that is FAR superior in my opinion.

What do you have for a receiver and what is your budget?  I f you work with what you already have, You will be able to squeeze the most out of your system.  There are tons of options out there but we need to know what your budget is, how much space are you willing to sacrifice and what do you or what do you [plan on using the system for?

I did not pay anything for this setup as it was all given to me, it's just time to upgrade.... i was looking at Klipch speakers also, some about the same size as the bose.... i got 2 Klipch special edition speakers from about 1996 hooked up to my other recever and they are great! but the recever i'm talking about right now is a Sony CMTBX20i recever.... i would like to have another system with new speakers, but then again i will loose my ability to control my 3rd gen iPod nano from across the room.... money is not really an issue, but if I can stay under $500.00 that would be nice. how is good is Sherwood and Insignia? I know they are the same, but I can get an Insignia 200W recever for $130.00

beats brand is a good brand....I tryed out alot of portable bluetooth speakers but I got the Beats Pill bluetooth speaker for my travel, best sound out of all the speakers in that category, well at least to me..... I like lots of bass in my music, and some of the other portable speakers sound like they have way too much Highs and not enough lows

Klipsch is great.  They have always made a solid product.  The Insignia is an entry level receiver.  I'd rather see you go with something else.  Harman Kardon makes some good stereo receivers at a decent price point.

An AV receiver is going to incorporate video switching into the receiver where a stereo receiver will be audio only.  Usually will have a tuner and a number of analog and digital inputs.

Stereo receivers are strictly Left and Right audio as well where an AVR will be anywhere from 5.1 to 9.2 etc.
