Help With Wiring My Car Subwoofer To My Surround Sound?

2 posts in this topic

I have a car subwoofer laying around not being used and a 5.1 surround sound system also collecting dust. For fun I want to wire my car sub to the receiver, just for fun. My sub is a 1200 watt rms dual voice coil 4ohms and I know I can just wire it to 8Ohms but it wouldn't be getting the necessary power from the receiver that it needs. I Have a matching amp for the sub I just was wondering how I can power the amp at home and then connect everything into my receiver. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Rca interconnect to amp, find an old computer power supply. You can google how to convert one, but use the Cpu 4 pin power for the amp (use both strands for double thickness), wire the REM to the 12v positive coming from the supply. Adjust the gain to balance to subwoofer to the rest.
