Advice On The Right Receiver

5 posts in this topic

I am renting a house. It has two ads bookshelf speakers in the great room (i know, not ideal, but they should be ok). I own a Pioneer Pro Plasma display (no speakers). I'd like to be able to hook the speakers up and use them for my tv audio, dvd audio, and stream music from my mac (itunes, spotify, etc.). I don't really have any need right now for surround sound, but would appreciate some pointers. I'm looking for the least expensive but reasonable solution since I don't own the house, just need something functional now. Don't feel like dropping 600 or so on a receiver, which the guys at best buy of course want me to do. Thoughts? Thanks.

Any 5.1 Receiver should be suitable. You could get a nice entry level Yamaha or Onkyo for a couple hundo.

Nice display by the way! I want a Pioneer display. I can get a 720p 50" Elite but don't want to pay the pricetag.

Thanks. This is exactly what I was looking for. Amazon has the suggested model for 190 and it has great reviews. Ordering right now!
