We have a small Panasonic 50inch plasma in our temporary lounge 8' x 14'.Theplasma is 16 months old and the power supply has decided to fail.
We are told it could be $500. to repair bya serviceman, new LG 50 " is being sold for $500. Figure that out ?? . Even though the warranty off our TV is for 12months, under Australian statutorylaw an appliance should last a reasonable amount of time partially governed by its purchase price .So I explained to customer service at Panasonic Thelaw, $1600 for 16 months use is not reasonable,so the manufactureris going to repair it free (so they should) .
It makes sense does it ???. I am sure America would have similar warrantyprotection???
Times have changed , It would have been cheaper to get a cheap projector and project TV onto the wall .
Remember when projectors were so expensive hardly anybody could afford them. Even replacementglobes (bulbs) are much cheaper now .
I was recently told that Plasma life is around 7years . I hope not . ...............Alan

Doubt it is worth anything, but no need to toss it at the time.
