One of my sons who lives over there in Virginia decided to get married , I'm glad because (why should he be happy) .
The wife and I are taking a holiday and going over for the wedding in October.
The actual wedding is in a 5acre Villa at Puerto Rico .
The whole Villa has been rented out to us for 10 days so we will have absolute privacy .
We are going to have a ball.
We are taking salsa dancing lessons but, i am afraid I have 2 left feet, I am hopeless.
After that we are going back to Virginia for about 3 weeks .
That will give me time to learn to drive again on the wrong side of the road .Australia is left hand side .
I want to look at some of the super audio stores there , as where we live in Australia there is none .
Another thing is to eat the American 'hot dog' I absolutely lover them .
No hot dog shops in Aussie. You cant even buy a decent one .
We are taking our 'Vegemite' and coffee (American coffee is too strong for us).
Another thing that we like is the American Burger . Good stuff.
One thing we have found is that the police are very friendly .
My last trip over there my son gave a car and told me to go out and practice again No cell phone or GPS finder.
Well, after driving in Virginia for about an hour I got hopelessly lost.I pulled into a 7/11 store and tried to ask directions back , but, they were Mexicans and I couldn't understand a thing they said , and probably likewise. As luck has it a Police Sheriff came into the store and I told him my story that I was hopelessly lost . lucky for me I had the Virginia address in my wallet . He asked me if I had a USA drivers License ,and I told him no but I have an Aussie one. I showed him my Aussie one and he laughed and shook his head and laughed again!!!,I can not see anything funny about my Aussie liscense.!!!.
Well I was talking to him for a long time , a hell of a nice person .
He told me to follow him and keep close to his car, he used his siren and lights ,he took me all the way home to the front door , he had GPS .
I asked him to drop in and have a beer with me next time he was in the area .
Well I suppose I have been a little long winded so I better Have my Vegemite toast for breakfast and a nice cup of tea...................Alan

I hope you have a safe and fun trip Alan. I have been to Puerto Rico a couple of times and had fun. Lots of drinking, sand, sun, and surf.

As far as shops in Virginia, I am sure there are some good ones. I have only driven through Virginia never really spent any time there.

I think you meant driving on the right side of the road!

Some body at some time put the steering wheel on the wrong sideof the car over there ,maybee they were drunk????

Doesnt matter, Have a few drinks and one automatically drifts over to the wrong side of the road.

We are learning the Salsa at the moment When one is 65 one learns not to be too vigerous dancing as at that age our bones are not as flexable . But there are more ways to skin a cat .

We are tired on arrival 14-15 hour trip , then 1 or 2 hours to go through customs all going well then 6 hours from Lax to Dulles (not Dallas) By then we are walking Zombies.
The next morning early to rise and explore .
We love visiting America .so much to see and do.
The size of America is about the same size as Australia .
America reminds us of Australia . America is much more population dense .300m America 30m Aussie.
If you were to stand in the city or suburbs you would swear you were back home , except , you may say where are all the people??? ....................Alan
