Motor and basket is an Avalanche and the soft parts are from Fi. Parameters should still be the same as the original Avalanche.

I am upgrading from a Mach5 MJ18-M.

I will be building a 11 cuft net box tuned to 17hz with a single 6" aeroport. I still haven't figure out if I will port on the same side as the sub cutout, the front, or port on the top panel. The ceiling is only about 7" tall. What do you guys think?

WinISD shows that I should get SIGNIFICANTLY more output under 20hz compared to the MJ18-M in about the same size enclosure and same amount of power. The Avalanche will be powered by a Behringer EP1500 and filtered bandpassed 13hz and 35hz with a Edead eQ.2.

I will be using another 18" sub for music so that is why I am lowpassing the Avalanche at 35hz.
The 2nd 18" will be a Mach5 IXL 18.4 with about 600 watts in 5.5 cuft net tuned to 35hz with 3 4" round ports. The sub is torn apart right now and waiting for the recone kit to come. I was planning on selling this sub, but in the meantime I will put it to good use. :T

Each sub will have a range to excel at so I can have the best of both. I didn't get enough topend from the MJ18-M for music so I found the blown Avalanche and the IXL and putting them back in the game.

What would you guys recommend to go with either a reckhorn b2 or a behringer mic2200 for subsonic EQing? Where is the cheapest place to get either?

Now, I tried to figure out if doing a regular rectangular or a sonotube would be easier. I know that home depot has concrete forms up to 16" but do they have 22" concrete forms? Are they cheap? Would it be better to go with a sonotube style over rectangular? Would the concrete forms need extra internal bracing and/or the walls need any type of resin coating for added strength? If I was going to build the rectangular box, it would be window braced and I'll use wooden dowels between the braces as well. All the walls will be double layered. The inside layer will be .75" mdf and the outside layer will be a better looking good. Not sure what yet but I want it to look good.

Well I picked up 10' of 6" pvc and waiting on argent to get a quote for the flares but if I cannot get a quote by next week, I'll just buy them somewhere else.

I may not have two 18s to play with now because after reconing both the 18s, the ixl still had slight rubbing or some type of noise when I pushed down on the cone. I really don't know why. I checked gap and spacing and there was no motor damage so i cannot figure it out.

However, I can always do a 12" build for music if I need more up top from the avalanche.

Nevermind with the IXL. That is out now. But the Avalanche is still going to be used. I may use two 12s for music as well. Depends.

Finally got some birch from lowes, 2 sheets. I'll be doing some work this weekend maybe cutting.

Also, I got a couple of new equipment for the home theater.

Mitsubishi HC3800 1080P projector, about 100ft of 22gauge monoprice HDMI cable with a repeater, and some stretch spandex to make a screen.
