I do a little, but my boss smokes them constantly. I also have several customers who smoke a lot.
But I have been considering building humidors. I am asking around to get some ideas on humidors, specifically the humidifiers... If you do enjoy smoking cigars, could you answer a few questions for me?
First, do you prefer gel/crystal type humidifiers, or the classic sponge type?
What humidity level (and temperature if you store hard core) do you like to maintain?
How frequently do you smoke, and on that note how often do you smoke the stogies in your humidor, as how often the humidor is opened will affect the humidifier in question.
Finally, do you prefer a clean, smooth, classic wood exterior, or do you prefer a lot of decoration on the humidor?
I have pretty much concluded the basic design of the humidors I will build. I am still contemplating the humidifier type I want to use, and I want to get a hygrometer in my hand to decide weather to mount it on the outside, so that the user can view and determine humidity in the humidor without opening it and causing a drop in humidity, or to mount it inside the lid, which is a more classic design.

Rules of thumb like that don't work. Blindly following propaganda isn't such a good idea either Alan.

I will have a cigar maybe once or twice a year. With a super hectic schedule and a 4 year old, I rarely have a moment to sit down for a couple of hours and enjoy one.

Alan- You don't inhale cigar smoke, so that rule of thumb is out the window. Also, tell that to my grandmother. She is 90, and smoked for 50 years. She has no issues with her lungs at all.
I smoke maybe 2 or 3 cigars a year, i doubt that is going to kill me. In fact, eating foods like hot dogs and bologna most likely almost did, as they contribute to colon cancer, which I almost died from last year. Sounds rather silly to blame my colon cancer on bologna or hot dogs, doesn't it?
Cigar and pipe smoking are completely different from smoking cigarettes. As a former cigarette smoker, I assure you that is true. I don't condone smoking cigarettes, in fact I strongly recommend against them. But I would never call anybody an idiot for smoking. They just made a poor choice. Odds are you partake of certain habits that others might consider less then healthy as well. I don't suspect you would like to be called a bloody idiot because you choose to partake of an evening nip of scotch or something similar.
