IS this Forum abandoned :drink40: as it appears quite dead ????????......................I am puzzled as it has all the makings of a great audio forum as we are fortunate enough to have qualified experts in the field that are more than willing to help any one that needs advise . At the moment it seems that it would be better as a cooking forum . Where is the interest in Audio gone . I know it is up to the users to keep it going and spread the the word to attract new members . Maybe the a lot of members have just lost interest , I do not know why, as I and many others learn a lot from their input ??????.............. Kind Regards ................Alan.

I spoke with a buddy of mine who runs an audio shop in February. He had to close one of his stores, and also had to abandon the 2 channel market. Sadly, he says, people don't care about real audio anymore. Everything is convenience. While 10 years ago he used to answer "Does this unit sound good?" all the time, today that is a question he almost never hears.

I am afraid anything audio is falling by the wayside. Hopefully we can garner enough attention here to attract new members interested in the finer aspects of home audio. Otherwise, it will wind up like my buddy's shops... empty :drink40:

Home System: Pioneer Elite VSX45TX, DV45A, BDP-23FD. Samsung Series 5 Plasma. Custom mains in a 7.1 format. Harmony One remote. PS3 gaming. Monster Circuit Protection.

That is sad about the shop. ;) But with a mix of time of year, and audio being a luxury with the shape the economy is and appears to be for a long time, all things audio are slow. As for here, I have not been on the forums as much as usually the last 4~5 days. Home and professional life is getting in the way. :D

Yeah, it's sad. I used to love going into his shop right around the corner from mine. He had all nice gear, B&W, Paradigm, JL, Niles, Elite, Marantz, Bryston, Anthem (I so want a Statement D2), etc... good moderate level gear the middle income masses could afford. He always hooks me up with the best gear at awesome prices too... I have been going to him for 10 years now.

Now I have to drive 45 minutes to his showroom.

I guess the bright side is that he did not have to totally shut the doors. As for these past couple of months, with work hours going nutty and the wife being so busy, my "free time" is mostly absorbed by my 4 year old. I still find it funny to look back while driving and see a car seat in my car. I have had this car pre-wife/pre-baby so it is kind of funny sometimes.

I work all the time. And sometimes have nothing to show for it. Yea, I know car audio has gone crazy since I competed back in the 90s. Guess that's why I like Sound Quality so much. I'm really hoping to get me another home audio setup soon. I miss it.

Your right guys, all I hear about at audio shops is "how loud wiLl they get" or "how hard will they hit" ... Kinda dissapointing when you show up in a great sounding vehicle and the just want to hear how loud will the bass get ... Its all good though ...
