  1. Hi there. I've got a sound system already set up (I'll describe it later) and I want to add to it. I want to add speakers that would be connected wireless to the main setup and then placed in my bathroom. I rent, so I can't be running cables through the walls to speakers I would have embedded into the bathroom walls. I want to place speakers on a shelf next to a power outlet and have them get their feed from the main system located in my living room. I don't know the best way to get the feed from my system to the bathroom speakers, also I would like suggestions about what speakers would best suite my bathroom. Here I'll describe my setup. There are two devices currently that produce sound. One is an entertainment PC, and my XBox 360. Both have their audio outputs connected to my TV. This way I can use the one remote to control the output volume of either device. My TV is a Vizio VO320E. My TV then sends its audio to a 4 channel mixer via RCA audio output. The Mixer is a Eurorack UB802. I use this mixer so that I can plug in other devices on the fly if I so choose (ipod, droid bionic, guitars, etc...) as well as play with the EQ on the fly. The main out from the mixer is then sent to my Pioneer amp (VSX-D209) and then to my Fisher STV-9238 speakers and Panasonic SB-WA54 sub woofer. The entrance to the bathroom is located about 15ft from the mixer. The bathroom isn't terribly large and has no sound deadening really, so there is a bit of reverb generated by the bathroom itself. Ideally I'd like to have the hypothetical bathroom speakers get their feed from either the mixer or Pioneer amp. If we can keep it on the cheap that'd be ideal, but suggestions geared towards optimum quality would also do nicely. Hopefully someone has thought of a scenario like this or has dealt with a similar dilemma as well. Thanks in advance, I'm looking forward to hearing your brainstorming. Panopticon36
  2. New member here and i was wanting to get some advice from some people who are somewhat audiophiles but at the same time know how to keep the price of the system not too high. im designing my system for my smallish room that i live in. i want it to be atleast 2.1 with towers but im trying to get 5.1 without it being htib. im 19 and although i know a good bit about headphones i dont know anything about home audio much. but anyways the system i want to use will be used primarily for gaming, movies, sports, and music. I want my setup to have lots of bass and i am currently on a $700 to $800 budget although i can get a little higher or lower. I have chose some speakers and i would like to hear any recommendations and personal thoughts about what i have chosen to use. well with no further ado. here goes: Center: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008NCD2EI/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER Bookshelf/ rear speakers: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004MEWZE4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER Sub: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00166ZFSO/ref=ox_sc_act_title_8?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER front/towers: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004H1M4NO/ref=ox_sc_act_title_7?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A89QP6D3VDW1W Receiver : http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004H1M4NO/ref=ox_sc_act_title_7?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A89QP6D3VDW1W
  3. Hello all, I'm new to the forum and apologize in advance if this isn't the correct placement for this post. Mods, feel free to move at your discretion. The question I have is for my Dad, he has tasked me with finding a solution and I thought a forum like this might be a good place to get real world advice or insight. Anyways, he recently re-did his back patio and put two speakers out there for entertaining. His issue is that he wants to hook them up to his stereo receiver in his den and wants to be able to control them specifically. So for instance, right now he's watching TV and doesn't need the whole neighborhood hearing him. But if he's entertaining, he wants to be able to put on one of the DirecTV music channels and have that playing at the very least outside but ideally inside too through all speakers. So, the big question is this: is this possible, and how do we do this? This may be a really basic/stupid question for all I know. I was looking through the instruction booklet to the receiver and it does mention a multi-zone set up, but it appears that requires a second receiver and I think we really want to avoid that. Also, the receiver is the Yamaha RX-V659. Not sure if that is an issue or not. If anybody can help, thanks in advance.
  4. Hi - New to this forum and looking for some advice. I'd like to purchase a new home theatre speaker system. I have an Onkyo TX-SR606 receiver. Below is the criteria I'm trying to fulfil. From what I've read the Energy Take Classic 5.1 system seems to fit this but would like to hear other peoples' opinions. It's also received great reviews from various sources. ~$600 budget Small speakers (no floor standing speakers, but do like a traditional rectangular channel speaker) 60% used for movies/TV 40% used for listening to music Size of living room is about 18ft x 14ft Thoughts?
  5. OK here is my situation I would love advice on. I just moved so looking to start fresh for my 5.1 system. So I have three sets of speakers 1) Polk Audio TR25i 2) Infinity IL10 3) Infinity Entra One. I was using a come in box satellite 5.1 system from polk but now want to use full size speakers so gave that to my parents. My room is a mid size room nothing small but not large. Which do people prefer for my fronts is my main question???? I will probable get rid of one set so which out of the 3 pairs should get left out of my system. Already have a sub and will match a center depending on my fronts. Thanks again!!!!
  6. I have a pair of Infinity Composition Oveture towers with built in amp and adjuster dial (OVTR-3, 15-200w, 8ohm, type 331251). I can not find any info on how much I would be able o sell them for. The only information I can find on them is an owners manual, nothing else. I was hoping someone would be able to help me on this. I also have a Velodyne CT100 ( fully adjustable), Infinity Center (CC3 10-150 8 ohm Type 33142 , adjustable) and a pair of Infinity Bookshelf speakers ( RS2 115-100, 8ohm, type 333212). Any help would be great. I no longer need these speakers and the have not been hooked up for about 4 years but were stored in the house. All are in very good shape.
